Photographs owned by Orrin E. Dunlap. Some taken by O.E.D. and others taken by other photographers such as Bierstadt.
Subjects include: Building bridges, the Suspension Bridge, Steel Arch Bridge (across Niagara Gorge), Upper Arch, Cantilever Bridge (erected 1883, to be taken down), lower Niagara Steel Arch Bridge ("over which King George and Queen Elizabeth will cross from Canada to the US..." from caption on the back), Lower Steel Arch Bridge, State Reservation at Niagara ("Construction of a bridge from the mainland to Green Island. The first crossing being made"), Lewiston Suspension Bridge and Queenston Heights.
The topic is almost exclusively bridges in Niagara Falls, NY. One says "Rev. Donie(?) Crowd), a postcard of Lincoln Beachy's flight under Niagara Falls Bridge (1911, Photo Seciality Co.), "Co. K. U.S. Infantry marching into Canada, carrying their arms , 11/19.1901".
