Scope and Contents
Letters from Rolland Koithan to Miss Clarice M. Tiffany (later Mrs. Rolland Koithan). Mr. Koithan worked at Buffalo Forge and for a period, worked for a branch of this company in Chicago. Clarice worked as a switchboard operator and lived with her family in Hornellsville (later Hornell). These letters document the daily lives of people in the early 20th C. Work, religious life, family life, roles are all a part of these letters. Telegrams, letters sent several times per day, costs of household items, a few newspaper clippings (including a job for "silk factory girls" in Hornellsville) are noted. Also: a world war two (WWII) military diary from Robert Koithan (1942-1944) documenting his time in North Camp Polk, LA as a private.
