Welch Papers, 1885-1935
General description and folder contents
The papers consist primarily of correspondence and other documents related to Thomas V. Welch's activities related to establishing the Niagara Reservation, which opened in July 1885. It included printed materials of the Niagara Falls Association and copies of "How Niagara Was Made Free", Welch's reminescence of the campaign to preserve the area around the Falls and Goat Island as a natural area. There is also a letterbook of the area around the Falls and Goat Island as a natural area. There is also a letterbook of Welch's general correspondence; 1906 correspondence regarding creation of a municipal park system in Niagara Falls; and material related to the celebration of the Reservation's 50th anniversary in 1935.
