Boxes 74 and 74 b contain the letters of Charles M. Clark. Subjects addressed in the letters: -Red Hill, the river rat (daredevil) in Chaz A. (father's) letters -Fort Niagara closing (Chaz A.'s letter) -Local Participation in World War II -Gender roles: Charles A. expresses desire to dissuade Betty from joining the service. Mother (Mabel) is going to work, Chaz is cooking dinner in one of Chaz's letters (lamb chops and coffee are on the stove). Sister and women friends have jobs (one letter is on Montgomery Ward stationary). -Brother George also served in the miltary -Chaz A. spends time skinning animals for fur to sell. -issues of wartime censorship (can't write openly in letters) -some of the stationary is specific to WWII

Biographical / Historical
The subject is Charles Milo Clark, and he served in the military (Coast Guard) in the 1940s. His letters (as far as we read) make no mention of a wife or of him going by the middle initial "R" (April 4, 2012).
Charles Milo Clark has a twin brother named Tom, and they both served in the military for a time. Most of the letters are personal, with a few exceptions.
