Scope and Contents
28 reels of 16 mm. film and 6 aluminum canisters of 35 mm still film negative taken from a box labeled "Carborundum Strikes 1944 and 1948".
These films are of worker's strikes in 1944 and 1948. Movie film boxes are marked in pencil with dates in April 1944 and January and February 1948. The still film canisters are marked with the name of the photographer "Vanderhoek" and dates between January 16 and January 24, 1948. Canisters were tightly wrapped in a non-archival paper tube, inside of which was stuffed a sheet of yellow lined paper, badly deteriorated with the penciled text "Note 2 1-14-48/12 o'clock/Don Foot/Here are 2 rolls of negatives./We would suggest that you have 2/4"x5" prints prepared from each negative, /one printed for use outside of Research &/one print to be filed with the negative when returned to Research./Each negative has a number scratched/& printed on one edge (such as 3-12 or 4-9/etc.) The man who makes the prints/must identify each print with the negative from which it is prepared by/writing the number on the back of the/print./Please send all prints & negatives from which it is prepared by/writing the number on the back of the/print./Please send all prints & negatives/back to use & we will quickly date, /identify & describe & send back to you /for your use./Note We will be sending you about 1 roll a day for the duration./Bauman & Chapman".

A very deteriorated Carborundum Co. memorandum addressed to "Don Foot" in building 91, floor 1 attached to reels of 35 mm still film says "These are 2 sents of 35 mm Leica film. Please provide 1 extra copy for our lab negatives and files & send me all prints & negatives so that I can identify your prints & return them promtly to you. Same handling as last time./Series 5-Wednesdays east gate pictures comprising #5-4 to #5-15 inclusive./Series 6-Thursdays east gate pictures comprising #6-3 to #6-6 & #6-8 to #6-15 inclusive". All items taken from a box addressed to Mr. Richard L. Hansen, The Carborundum Company, 1625 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, 14303.
